There wasn't enough room for my whole comment: the RIAA tends to be okay with mp3 blogs if it's a few songs at a time kind of thing, but I think uploading whole albums or hundreds of songs at a time would get v.v. dicey.

I think you and this community totally rock and whatever you decide is fine by me. Maybe it's better to be safe than sorry. You don't want to wake up one morning with the Mounties FBI on your doorstep.

Anyway, this is more me taking the opportunity to thank you for this community than to give you any actual worthwhile guidance on how to run it. ;-)

I am unsure of what "locked" actually means. However, I echo someone else's comments on the number of songs. It concerns me when entire CDs are available for unload. 1 or 2 songs to represent the artist seems better.

I'm thinkin' yes and no. Yes, because I'm a scardy-cat and I'm worried about you getting in trouble. No, because it seems like it's a damn lot of work that you maybe hadn't anticpated when you first began the comm.

I just have visions of a tiny windowless room packed to the gills with one or two pasty sweaty RIAA guys/gals on tiny ancient laptops pretending to be one of those posters and logging everything, ya know? What's to stop them?

No...actually, Hubby was going to buy it for me at his book store but they didn't have it in stock. I went to see about purchasing it online and that fucker is over a hundred dollars! WTF?!? You'd think after buying each and ever single one of her books to date, each and every one of her movies to date (and anticipated to continue to do so to Book 7), that we'd get a little love, ya know? $107?!? Fuck.

I'm pretty new to lunatunes, and I didn't see anything against uploading albums, but if that's a problem, I'll stop. :-) It's just that I have whole albums already zipped up for my own back up, so it's easier for me to upload than picking through my iTunes library.

I also would never have come here except for reading a Journal link from a Message Board, and never join Friends only communities.
